A doctor at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has allegedly poisoned his colleague doctor’s drinking water with HIV-infected blood in the hope that it will be drunk following a disagreement between them.
According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the two doctors work at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
It is reported that the incident happened when the target was on a 24-hour duty with six other doctors at the Labour Ward One of the hospital.
At the end of his shift, the target doctor returned into the consulting room only to discover that the water he had kept to drink had an unusual reddish colouration to it.
Suspecting that it had been poisoned by the suspect, the doctor took a sample of the water to the laboratory for a clinical test where it was detected that HIV+ blood was added.
The incident was reported at the Korle Bu District Police Command on Thursday, May 6, at about 11:30 in the morning.
DSP Mrs Effia Tenge, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command has confirmed the filing of the report and indicated it was under investigation.
